I woke up with a head full of steam, mind racing, and I don't really know what it means, with all the noise that it's making. What's new? I woke up with a song and a dream, and wondered if they'd ever happened, here was a morning, familiar to me, the sun on the back of my hands What's real? Long-forgotten days, those are never coming back to me. How I wish that I could stay in the memory that you gave to me. I woke up with a head full of steam, my mind was racing, and I don't really know what it means, with all the noise that it's making. What's new?

Oh, you know me much too well, Lord, I know you can always tell, when I'm swimming in an ocean of worry, and dodging the dark of night. Oh, good friend of my selfish way, all you take you will one day pay, now you're swimming in an ocean of worry, and dodging the dark of night. You don't ask me to tell you a good time, you don't ask me to tell you at all, and I worry that I'm not a good man, and I worry that I'm not at all. Oh, you know me much too well, Lord, I know you can always tell, when I'm swimming in an ocean of worry, and dodging the dark of night, when I'm swimming in an ocean of worry, and dodging the dark of night.

Whenever I'm lonely, I think of calling you and when I feel happy, I think about you, too. You're just on my mind, all the time, you're my blue suede shoes. And I don't write love songs to make you want me too, it's just that I can't think of much else I could do, with all this empty space, there's a bar that's near my place I go most every afternoon. With a pen and a pad, I write love songs, some happy, some sad, but mostly just bad. Whenever I'm lonely, I think of calling you and when I feel happy, I think about you, too. You're just on my mind, all the time, you're my blue suede shoes.
